Systems Engineer & Developer

Building practical systems and products that perform in the real world.

About Me

Software engineer building and operating multi-tenant SaaS platforms for healthcare and logistics — schema design, async backends, mobile, security, and deployment, with a focus on compliance-aware architecture and correctness under concurrency. Built a HIPAA-aligned medication platform integrated with Epic's FHIR sandbox; hardened three production sites to A+ on securityheaders.com.

What I do

Design and build full product flows from interface to backend and deployment-ready structure.

What I optimize

Performance, maintainability, and user clarity so software remains dependable as it grows.

What I am targeting

Systems engineering, platform engineering, and software roles with strong ownership scope.

Education

Bachelor of Arts in Information Technology

University of North Texas at Dallas | Dallas, TX

Coursework: Introduction to Java Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, IT Project Management, Database and System Designs, Software Engineering.

Why Hire Me

  • I turn ambiguity into working prototypes, from sub-200ms WebRTC signaling to multi-module fleet management systems.
  • Self-directed across fintech, health-tech, geospatial analytics, and HIPAA-compliant systems.
  • Eager to bring that builder's mindset to your team's toughest challenges.

Current Portfolio Themes

Work across logistics, emergency response support, hospitality, and service-based digital platforms.

Logistics and operations

Tracking, workflow visibility, and operational dashboards.

Safety and assistance systems

Fast action flows and high-priority response interfaces.

Client-focused business websites

Modern interfaces built to convert users and support growth.

Technical Projects

Patient Triage API

Spring Boot REST API · Solo Project

A REST API for patient intake and urgency-based retrieval, built with Spring Boot 3 and Java 17. Includes Jakarta Validation, a priority queue for triage ordering, and a full JUnit 5 test suite.

  • Java 17, Spring Boot 3, Spring Web, Jakarta Validation
  • Maven, JUnit 5, multi-stage Dockerfile
  • GitHub Actions CI passing on every push

Dispatch Assignment Patterns

Java 17 · SOLID & Concurrency Patterns

A small Java module demonstrating SOLID principles, pluggable selection strategies, tunable retry policy, and safe concurrency in a dispatch assignment service.

  • Java 17, no external dependencies
  • Strategy pattern with four interchangeable rider-selection strategies
  • Idempotent job claiming via AtomicBoolean and Future timeouts
  • Pluggable audit logs (in-memory or file-backed)

Load Balancer Patterns

Java 17 · Producer-Consumer & Concurrency

A worker-pool implementation with pluggable distribution strategies for routing incoming jobs across a fixed set of consumers.

  • Java 17, no external dependencies
  • Pluggable strategies: round-robin and least-loaded
  • BlockingQueue per worker with poison-pill shutdown
  • AtomicInteger pointer and LongAdder completion counts

Drone Telemetry Platform

Java 25 · Spring Boot 4 · PostGIS · Grafana · Leaflet

An end-to-end telemetry platform for drone flights. Ingests DJI flight CSVs into PostgreSQL/PostGIS with spatial indexes, auto-detects low battery, weak signal, and geofence breaches, serves the data as GeoJSON via REST, and visualizes it in Grafana and an interactive satellite map with flight replay.

  • Java 25, Spring Boot 4.1, PostgreSQL 16 + PostGIS 3.4
  • Flyway migrations, GIST spatial indexes, JdbcTemplate batch inserts
  • GeoJSON API, Leaflet map with live HUD and playback controls
  • Grafana dashboards provisioned as code, Docker Compose
  • 8 tests — 4 unit, 4 Testcontainers integration with real PostGIS

Clinical RAG Platform

Java 25 · Spring Boot 4 · pgvector · HNSW · RAG

A retrieval-augmented generation platform for clinical documents. Ingests free-text notes, chunks them with overlap, embeds chunks into PostgreSQL with pgvector, retrieves the most relevant context for a query, and generates citation-grounded answers through a pluggable LLM provider.

  • Java 25, Spring Boot 4.1, PostgreSQL 16 + pgvector 0.8
  • HNSW cosine index, top-K retrieval, source metadata
  • Pluggable embedding + LLM providers with deterministic mocks
  • Citation-grounded prompt construction, per-query metrics
  • 15 unit + 10 integration tests with Testcontainers

Clinical Triage + RAG Integration

Java · Spring Boot · Multi-service · RAG · OpenAI · PostgreSQL + pgvector

Two Spring Boot services talking over HTTP. The Triage API scores patients on eight clinical factors and ranks them by severity tier, then calls the RAG platform with the top-ranked patient's full clinical picture. The RAG platform embeds the question, retrieves the most relevant clinical note from pgvector (HNSW cosine index), builds a citation-grounded prompt, and returns a cited clinical recommendation. Combined response includes ranked patients plus an answer sourced from the trauma note.

  • Triage API — rule-based multi-factor scoring, PriorityQueue, RestClient
  • RAG platform — pgvector + HNSW, OpenAI embeddings, GPT-4o-mini
  • End-to-end response: ranked patients + cited clinical guidance
  • Retrieval distance 0.28 (trauma query) — tight semantic match
  • 42 tests across both services — JUnit 5, Testcontainers
